With OMNY, passengers can simply tap their contactless payment device at the OMNY readers installed at turnstiles or onboard buses to pay for their fare. The rollout of OMNY began in May 2019 and is expected to be completed by 2023.

Through the Digital Assistant, found in the bottom right corner of the website, you can select “Senior Discount” and enter your contact information to begin the process. Senior citizens will also have to show proof of age to verify their eligibility for the discount. Once all the steps are complete, you’ll be ready to enjoy your discounted fares.

You should be aware that the discounted fare for seniors only applies to MTA rides. If you take a taxi or use another form of transportation, you will be charged the full fare. Additionally, seniors must present valid proof of age when purchasing their OMNY card or when using it to

In addition to seniors, people with disabilities are also eligible for the reduced fare. This includes those using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices. To receive the discounted fare, they must present valid proof of disability when purchasing their OMNY card.
